LAHORE – Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi on Sunday called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and briefed him about the affairs of the board at length.
Speaking to a private TV channel, Sethi said that the meeting with the prime minister was encouraging. He said that he briefed the prime minister on the Pak-India cricket and developments in the restoration of the game between the two countries.
“Nawaz Sharif agreed on the proposal for holding elections in the board at the earliest,” he said. Sethi also said that the prime minister would give approval of the PCB constitution after returning from India. Nawaz, who is also patron-in-chief of the Pakistan cricket, assured full cooperation and provided guidelines to Sethi for the improvement of the game.
Zaheer Abbas, adviser to Sethi, said the meeting was a good sign. “Sethi is trying his level best to restore bilateral series and he has also established a good rapport with the Indian board officials,” he said.
