ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) reinstated Zaka Ashraf as the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and questioned the formation of a management committee that worked under the chairmanship of Najam Sethi.
Besides reinstating Zaka, the court also reinstated 38 employees who were recently sacked by the PCB. This is the third time Zaka has been re-appointed as the chief of the board since his removal from the office. Zaka was appointed as the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, as of October 15, 2011 by the then president Asif Ali Zardari. He assumed office on October 27, 2011.
On February 10, 2014 Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif dissolved the PCB governing board and sacked him for the chairmanship of PCB. The main reason for that was a slew of alleged financial irregularities and mismanagement of the board, though the annual budget saw a reduction of its deficit during his time. A private channel reported that the court has also declared as illegal a PCB caretaker committee including Najam Sethi.
