Sethi removed as PCB chief

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi has been removed from his post by the government and an interim setup will take charge of the board, under the chairmanship of Jamshed Ali Shah – a retired judge.


Attorney General Salman Aslam told the two-member Supreme Court bench comprising Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and Justice Saqib Nisar that the prime minister has also stopped the PCB Interim Management Committee from working and formed a new governing board.


The attorney general said that Jamshed Ali Shah was appointed as the acting PCB chairperson and also the election commissioner for the PCB elections, which will be held within the next 30 days.


Since May 2013, the PCB chairpersons have been removed and reinstated seven times.
