LAHORE: With an incredible feat of playing five matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 7 for the Kings XI Punjab team, owned by Indian actress Preeti Zinta, Glen Maxwell has taken cricket by storm. He has treated all bowlers of all teams like very ordinary bowlers, hitting them all over the ground ruthlessly and successfully. With twice scoring 95 and once 89 and a strike rate of 200 plus, he has played every shot in the book with so much perfection.
He has hit most beautiful square cuts, cover drives, extra cover drives, long on, long off and ground shots for lot of sixes and fours. He has played reverse shot with unbelievable accuracy, be it reverse sweep or reverse shot in any area of the ground. He has hammered sixes in every area: square leg, point, cover, extra cover, long on, long off and mid wicket. He has not let the spectators sit in their chairs expecting a six or four on each and every ball Maxwell has played and he lived up to every one's expectations. Very few dot balls were played by him in all the five innings.
He is leading the score-line with a big margin. He has scored exactly 300 runs in five matches with an average of 60 runs per match which is magical for Twenty20 cricket. Maxwell was unlucky for missing two centuries with only the smallest margin of 5 runs. Had he scored two centuries things would have been more out of the world. He made any bowler look like a school cricketer. In my entire life I have not ever seen so much variety of shots and so much clean hitting from any player of the world.
Maxwell has single handedly won three out of five matches for his team and won man of the match awards in those matches. What an amazing cricket he is playing these days. He becomes handy with his off spin bowling and gets some wickets too. Maxwell is a brilliant fielder too, taking very difficult catches and saving lot of boundaries on ground shots. If his form stays for the rest of the 40 matches to be played in India then cricket lovers all over the world are going to have big treat of incredible and unbelievably fantastic shots. Maxwell has made his team the only unbeaten side in this tournament up to now. They have 10 points from five games and leading the points table. Maxwell came, Maxwell saw and Maxwell conquered. His likeability has surpassed Indian cricketer Virat Kohli who is considered a god of cricket in Twenty20 cricket. No body knows what more greatness is going to unfold in next forty matches of the IPL 2014.
