48 matches decided on opening day

ISLAMABAD: The National Ranking Tennis Championship kicked of on Saturday here at PTF Tennis Complex with 48 matches decided on the opening day. Talha Bin Asif, Talha Zubair, Hamza Malik, Maniya Omar, Syed Yawar Abbas, Aman Atiq, Abdal Haider and Haseeb Yaqoob qualified for the main draw of men’s singles by winning their respective matches. A total number of 40 players appeared in the qualifying round.
Syed Nofil Kaleem, Ali Khalid, Saad Abjad, Aman Atiq, Mohammad Muzamil, Hasnain, Hamza Abjad, Arham Atiq, Syed Yawar Abbas, Talha Zubair, Hasnain Manzoor, Talha Bin Asif, Abdal Haider, Sahibzada Mohammad Ali and Mohammad Mudasir moved into the second round of boys under-18 competitions by winning their respective matches. 
Unseeded Hamza Abjad made the major upset in the boys event by beating 7th Seed Hamza Bin Asif in straight sets with the score-line of 6-3 and 6-2. Syed Kaleem Imam, Pakistan Tennis Federation President, and Sultan Maqsood, PTF Vice President, graced the inauguration ceremony as the chief guests.
