SHC conditionally allows appointments in varsities


KARACHI: Provincial authorities were conditionally allowed on Friday to continue the process of appointments on the posts of Registrar, Controller of Examinations and Director Finance in the public sector universities of Sindh by Sindh High Court (SHC). However, it barred authorities from finalizing the appointments till further orders. A division bench headed by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar gave this interim stay order on a petition against Sindh governments advertisement for appointments on the various posts in public sector universities of the province. Jointly filed by Suhail Ahmed - controller of examinations, Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET) Munir Ahmed Shaikh - director finance MUET,  Fazal Ali Shah - director finance, Qaid-e-Awam University of Engineering, Science & Technology (QUEST), Roshan Ali Siyal - director finance, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University, Muhammad Sajeeruddin - director finance, ,NED University of Engineering & Technology, Tauha Hussain Ali - Registrar, Muet. Zamer Hussain Ghumro, counsel for petitioner said that they have been appointed by the competent authority under a valid legal and administrative process which could not be questioned.
