‘PM directed completion ofLyari Expressway by Dec’

KARACHI: Minister of State for Communication Shaikh Aftab Ahmed, along with Chairman of Senate’s standing committee on communication Sufian Ahmed, called on Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan here at the Governor House and discussed various communication projects including construction of Lyari Expressway. National Highway Authority’s (NHA) General Manager for Lyari Expressway gave a detailed presentation on this important project, said an official statement here on Friday. The Governor said that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has issued directives for completion of this mega project by the December 2014. The project is 38 kilometer long with two inter-changes and overpasses and under-passes. He pointed out that because of non-completion of its remaining ten percent work on schedule, cost of the project has increased. He said Karachi is the largest economic hub of the country and there is constant increase in the traffic. The Lyari Expressway will greatly help in normalizing the traffic flow in the city. The Minister assured to provide required funds to NHA.  Clear directive has been issued that there should be no delay in completion of the project as soon as right of way is available.
