Doctor, school principal among seven people shot dead in city

KARACHI: Seven persons including a doctor, school head and a policeman were gunned down in separate incidents in fresh wave of violence in city on Friday, police said.Armed men in Nazimabad area near Gole Market shot dead Syed Farhan Ali riding on a car, later he was identified as a private school principal.According to police it could be a sectarian killing however the body was moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for examination.Gunmen shot dead Hassan Ali near Hussainabad area, he was a doctor, police said. Fear and tension gripped the area after the shooting incident.The armed men in Manghopir area killed two persons, while a man was shot dead by unknown killers near Napier Road area.Police said armed men killed a man in the crime-troubled Lyari Town. The identification of the deceased could not be ascertained.Adil (40) succumbed to his gunshot wounds in North Nazimabad when he came under attack outside Ziauddin Hospital, police said.Police said it recovered a bullet-riddled body of a woman from Mauripur near Purana Truck Adda. No arrests have so far made in any of the reported incidents. The police initiated investigation.Meanwhile during targeted operation in Northern Bypass, Rangers nabbed five suspects and recovered firearms from their possession. According to Rangers the arrested suspected were belong to banned outfits.A member of gang-war Jalil alia Bullet was also killed in police encounter in Lyari area while his accomplices managed to escape, police said.
