Birth certificates banned for illegal immigrants

 KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui terming illegal immigrants a security risk restrained all revenue and municipal offices from issuing birth, domicile or residence certificates to them. Presiding over a meeting to review registration process of illegal immigrants on Friday, he said any certificate issued, in violation of law, to illegal outlander should be rescinded after scrutiny. He said government would not allow any step or activity that would risk lives and property of the citizens and no compromise would be made in this regard. He emphasised there should be close coordination between Federal Investigating Agency (FIA) and National Database Regulatory Authority (Nadra) regarding illegal immigrants and directed all deputy commissioners to hold monthly review meetings. The meeting was informed 298 illegal immigrants were registered while registration of 314 has been renewed. Additional IGP told proposal for establishing police check posts on entry and exit points of Karachi was under consideration to check their movement. Officials of Pakistan Coast Guards, Marine Security Agency, FIA, National Alien Registration Authority, Nadra, police, local government and revenue departments and Afghan Refugees Commissioner Gazanfar Ali Agha attended the meeting.
