Seven killed, three injured as violence continues to grow

KARACHI: As many as seven persons including a policeman lost their lives while another three people got injuries in separate incidents of violence on Thursday.Police said two unidentified men aged between 30 and 35 were killed when unidentified armed men opened fire on them in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 7. The bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for post-mortem.Unknown armed men shot dead two persons in Sachal Goth near Mosamiat. The identification of the deceased persons could not be ascertained however they were between 25 and 30 of ages. The bodies were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for examination.A man identified as Faran Qureshi (30) was killed and another Imran (35) got injuries when unidentified armed men opened fire on them in Jamshed Quarters in Jamshed Town. The body and the injured were shifted to Aga Khan University Hospital for legal formalities and injured treatment.A police constable Muhammed Pervaiz Abbasi (55) son of Riaz Abbasi was shot dead by unidentified men near Pakistan Masjid in Ramswami, Ranchorr Line in jurisdiction of Eidgah police station. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for examination.Police said it recovered a 10-day-old mutilated body of an unidentified man (50) from Rehmanabad Surjani Town. The body was shifted to ASH for an autopsy. Two persons Khawar (25) son of Muhammed Raza and Sikandar Ali (30) son of Hassan Ali residents of Bori Wali Gali Liaquatabad number 8 were injured when unidentified armed men opened fire on them in Liaquatabd Underpass. The injured were brought to ASH for treatment.Meanwhile SSP Special Investigation Unit (SIU) Muhammad Farooq Awan claimed to have busted an inter-provincial gang of criminals and arrested their three members including leader of the gang from Gulshan-e-Maymar.At a press conference, he said SIU with the help of Karachi police conducted a raid on a tip-off in Gulshan-e-Maymar area and arrested Aftab Dahar alias Ustad, Zahir Uddin and Anwar Domki belonging to an inter-provincial gang.He said arrested accused were involved in 15 cases of crimes in Sindh and 12 cases in Punjab including kidnapping for ransom, highways robberies and vehicle lifting.He said accused Aftab Dahar had kidnapped a youth Vinodmal with the help of his accomplices within the limits of Darakhshan police station in August 2013 and released the hostage after collecting Rs 3.5 million as ransom. He said they also kidnapped Ata Muhammad Geachi from Defence Housing Authorities area in August 2013 and released him after receiving Rs 4 million ransom.The accused kidnapped a man Tariq Qureshi owner of a marriage hall from Gulistan-e-Johar in March 2014 and released the abductee after receiving Rs 5 million. He said criminal Aftab was also arrested by Faisalabad and Rahimyar Khan police in robberies and car lifting cases. He said one Kalashnikov and two pistols with bullets were recovered from their possession. Further investigation was underway.
