Collective suicide? : Bodies found from Keenjhar Lake shifted to Karachi

KARACHI: Bodies of five men who were gunned down in mysterious circumstances in the middle of Keenjhar Lake in Thatta have been shifted to Karachi after preliminary post mortem. According to reports, the deceased were identified as major (retd) Jahangir Akhtar, captain (retd) Bilawal, Adnan Saeed, Muhammad Ali and Suhail Ahmed. A group of five friends, who belonged to Gilgit-Baltistan, Rawalpindi and Karachi arrived at Keenjhar Lake from Karachi and took a boat trip to the tomb of Noori Jam Tamachi located in the middle of the lake. Upon arrival at the tomb, the tourists asked the boatman to leave them there for a while and pick them up later. After a while, when the boatman went back to pick them up from the tomb, he found all the five men lying dead in a pool of blood. He immediately called the police and it was discovered that 'unknown assailants' gunned down all of them. SSP Thatta said the bodies were taken to Civil Hospital Thatta for examination after death and an investigation team had also been formed. According to the initial post mortem report, the five men were shot in the head from a point-blank range. Police suspect that one of the friends shot dead the rest, and later committed suicide.
