‘Ruthless victimisation’ of Sindh can’t be tolerated, warns Bilawal

KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party Patron-in-Chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has strongly condemned the “ruthless victimisation of people of Sindh” at the hands of Ministry of Water and Power. The young PPP leader said millions were suffering from severe and scorching heatwave without electricity in the province. In a press release, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said the policy to send inflated bills to consumers and then using force and muscle power of the federal agencies to fleece the public is an anti-people step and thus would not be allowed. He said the way the province which provides major portion of energy to the country is being treated is outrageous and tantamount to further deepening the sense of deprivation among smaller provinces. “There have been instances where the smaller towns of Sindh were sent streetlights bills much bigger than that of cities like Lahore and Faisalabad,” he claimed. Bilawal said load-shedding of 18 hours a day in Sindh and other provinces speaks volumes about the “mercilessness on the part of the federal government, which seems to be interested in adding more agony to the life of common man”. The PPP chief stated that his party will not tolerate victimisation of the people of Sindh for voting the “party of martyrs”, referring to the PPP, and asked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to stop his ministers from “maligning the smaller provinces and their masses”.
