KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Ghulam Hyder Jamali has ordered foolproof security measures during Eid prayers and holidays.
The IGP also visited different areas and shopping markets of the city last night in order to check security arrangements and situation. He was accompanied by Additional IGP Karachi, Zonal DIGs and District SSPs. He also visited various Police Reporting Centers established in the city in connection with the Ramazan Contingency Plan.
The IGP was informed that more than 60 Police Reporting Centers had been established to provide all possible assistance to the citizens. During his visit, the IGP also broke fast with the policemen of PS Gulberg for their encouragement.
He was further informed that more than 16000 police personnel would perform duties on the Eid day. Police would be providing security around more than 336 open places for Eid prayer congregations, 3993 mosques and 312 Imambargahas, according to the Eid Contingency Plan. Karachi Police is also deploying commandos at various possible sensitive and crime infested areas, and vital installations.
The IGP directed officials to streamline the responsibilities under a pro-active policing mechanism with special reference to reactivation of Advance Intelligence Collection Units at the level of police stations.
He directed on the occasion that police officers should visit the residences of martyred police personnel along with gifts for the kids to let them feel that the police department owns them.
Jamali said that the families of martyred police personnel should be looked after properly and their problems resolved. He was informed that a complaint box had been set up at the main gate of CPO to specially receive any complaint from family members of martyred police, whereas a desk had also been established in the office of AIG Welfare to address issues confronting their families.
The instructed for accelerating the targeted operation in the city and ensuring arrest of criminals and terrorists involved in the killings and other crimes without any discrimination.
The IGP warned the police that no any slackness and irresponsibility would be tolerated. Jamali also visited residence of Allama Talib Jouhari where he offered condolences over the killing of his son-in-law that happened few days back.
He expressed sympathies to the bereaved family members and assured them that the killers would be brought to book very soon. He also visited Aga Khan Hospital and met prominent Ahl-e-Tashi leader Salman Mujtaba to enquire about health of his niece who got injured due to firing incident a few days ago.
The IGP also inquired about the health and wellbeing of DSP Tariq Saeed who got injured due to firing by terrorists at the police mobile. He issued directive that expenditure on treatment of injured police personnel would be provided by the police department.
