KARACHI: Sindh Information, Archives and Local Government Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the illegal occupation of and encroachments on amenity plots would not be tolerated.
Presiding over a meeting with Sindh secretary local government and other officials at his office on Tuesday, he asked to immediately compile necessary record of the amenity plots in Karachi so that illegal occupation and encroachments can be removed and misuse prevented.
He directed the secretary and other officials to launch a crackdown against the encroachers. Speaking about the importance of amenity plots and parks for the urban environment, he said that the amenity plots and parks were allotted for the benefit of citizens and their misuse was a public injustice.
He directed the administrators of all District Municipal Corporations of the city to compile and furnish a record of amenity plots within their precincts along with details of encroachments and people responsible for these encroachments within a week.
He asked to furnish details about amenity plots cleared of encroachments during the crackdown.
