Shia leader’s guards shot dead among five

KARACHI: At least five people were killed among cops in separate incidents of violence in different parts of the city on Saturday.
In the first happening, two security guards of Shia Ulema Council's leader were killed in an armed attacked near Shah-e-Zaman Imambargah, Gulistan-e-Johar within the vicinity of Shahrah-e-Faisal police station.
Police said that the incident took place when Shia Ulema Council leader Allama Mirza Yousuf Hussain was returning to his house in Nazimabad area from Shah-e-Zaman Imambargah.
At least four armed men riding on motorbikes intercepted his vehicle and resorted to indiscriminate firing, resulting in the death of police guard Zahid Hussain and private guard Muzahir Hussain, however Mirza Yousaf Hussain remained unscathed.
Spokesman of Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen condemned the attack and demanded police and Rangers to arrest the culprits and provide better security to their leaders. 
Separately, an ASI of police was gunned down near Preedy Centre, Saddar within the precincts of Preedy police station. 
Police said that deceased 42-year-old Jabbar, son of Noor Muhammad was on patrol along with a police constable, when unidentified armed riders sprayed bullets on him and escaped from the scene. As a result he died on the spot. Police said that deceased was posted at Preedy police station. The motive behind his killing is yet to be ascertained. 
Similarly, a teenage boy was shot dead in an armed attack on a doctor's car in Dir Colony within the remits of Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan police station.
Police said that 16-year-old Sami Noor was returning home after picking his sister from Rehmat Clinic on Dr Farrukh's car, when an armed man fired at the car. As a result, a bullet went through Sami's head and he died on the spot. Police suspect personnel enmity as the motive behind the incident, and further investigations are underway.
Elsewhere, a woman was shot dead on a chingchi rickshaw in Bhitaiabad area within the remits of Airport police station. 
Police said that the deceased Shazia, 30, resident of Shah Faisal Colony, was on her way home from work, when unidentified culprits shot her over an unexplained reason and later fled from the scene. 
Body found: A slaughtered body of a man was found from Saakran Riverbed within the jurisdiction of Manghopir police station. 
Law enforcers said that the identity of the victim has not been ascertained yet, while the body has been shifted to a morgue. Police while quoting initial investigations said that unidentified culprits kidnapped the victim from somewhere and later threw the body after torture and slaughtering.
MQM slams attack: Rabita Committee has condemnation the attack on Allama Hussain’s car in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. They expressed deep sorrow and grief over the death of the policeman and his personal bodyguard. "People from a particular sect are being killed in a planed manner. Their act should be condemned as much as possible."
