KARACHI: Sindh Madrasatul Islam (SMI) School has received bill of electricity of about Rs 0.7 million rupees for a single month April 2014 from the Karachi’s K-Electric.The administration of Sindh Madressatul Islam University in its statement on Tuesday said the K-Electric has sent them bill of Rs 694,703 for month of April 2014, in which actual bill is mentioned of Rs18,249, while the rest amount of Rs. 676,453.76 has been mentioned as a fine. The administration has said the SMI University had duly paid bills of pervious months as Rs 9,202 (for January 2014), Rs 5,136 (for February) and Rs 13,524 (for March), but this time the bill was shocking for them, as the SMIU School is remained open from 8.00 am to 1:45pm from Monday to Friday (it remains closed on Saturday and Sunday), then how it is possible to consume electricity of such level. But the authorities of the K-Electric has given answer of SMI University’s such question in their Load Assessment Report by mentioning that, SMIU School is using 7 refrigerators, 7 washing machines, 7 irons etc. From the report it seems it is a laundry, not a school. When a representative of SMI University visited the office of K-Electric on Tuesday and requested the concerned persons to review the bill, they said him to pay the entire amount mentioned in the bill. SMI University seeking justice in this respect.
