Power outage affects KE’s extra-high tension line

KARACHI: K-Electric (KE) on Tuesday clarified the outage took place on Monday night when humidity level along with the rising thermometer led to tripping affected its 220 Kilo Volts extra-high tension line. The issued statement said, “Due to this tripping, out of a total 62 grid stations 11 were affected, but the KE team along with its engineers immediately started rectifying the situation and soon these grids were restored. The affected grids were Garden, Gizri, Clifton, Defence, Elander Road, Jacoblines, Korangi West, Lyari, Old Town, Queens Road and West Wharf. KE through the press statement also like to clarify and inform its consumers, there will be maintenance work on the above mentioned grids that got affected yesterday, till the May 30 and due to this maintenance shutdown, low-loss feeders which were fed through the above mentioned grids and which previously had zero load-shed would face up to 1.5 hours of load shedding in a day, whereas feeders such as medium loss, high loss and very high loss will face a change of time in their scheduled load shed timings. K-Electric apologised for this additional shed of load but wanted all stakeholders to understand that this was only being done to improve and rectify its current network.
