Three policemen among eight killed in city

KARACHI: Eight persons, including three policemen and a doctor, were killed, while one other was injured in different violence incidents in the city on Wednesday.
According to Station House Officer (SHO) Zaman town, unidentified criminals shot dead SI Sahib Dino, aged 50, at Matkay Wali Pulia. He was resident of Barrack No. 4, PS Awami colony. 
He was in police uniform and suffered bullet in his head from rear side. He was posted at Sindh Reserve Police. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) for an autopsy.
Separately, two policemen, Khurram, 40, son of Kamal, and Junaid Akram, 38, son of Javed Akram, were shot dead and another pedestrian, Saddam, 14, son of Saleem, injured by unknown armed bike riders at Naggan Roundabout in New Karachi. They were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH).
Dr Naseem Hussain Jaffri, 50, son of Imanat Hussain Jaffri, was shot dead by armed men in Korangi No 5 ½ . The body was shifted to JPMC for medico-legal formalities.
A 35-year-old man, Abdullah, son of Rafique, was shot dead by unknown armed men at Orangi Town No 1. The body was shifted to ASH for a postmortem examination.
Hafiz Mehboob Shah, 45, son of Dost Muhammad Shah, was killed by unidentified armed culprits at Bilal Roundabout in Korangi. The body was shifted to JPMC for medico-legal formalities.
Muhammad Zahid, 50, son of Mir Hassan, was shot dead by unknown armed motorcyclists at Qasba Colony No 2 ½ in Orangi Town. The body was shifted to ASH for an autopsy.
Separately, an unidentified man was shot dead by unknown armed man in Lyari near Ghreeb Shah shrine. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for postmortem examination.
Meanwhile, the funeral prayer of Sub Inspector (SI) Sahib Dino, who was shot dead by unidentified assailants within the jurisdiction of Zaman Town police station in Korangi, was offered at Police Headquarters Garden here on Wednesday.
Acting Inspector General of Police Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali, Additional Inspector General of Police Karachi Ghulam Qadir Thebo, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGPs) of East, West, and South districts, DIGP Headquarters Sindh, DIGP Sindh Reserve Police (SRP) and senior police officers also attended the funeral prayer. The martyred SI was given a guard of honour by a special contingent of police in recognition of his innovative services.
The martyred SI Sahib Dino, aged 50, was shot dead by unknown armed men at Matkay Wali Pulia in Korangi. He was resident of Barrack No. 4, PS Awami Colony, and posted at SRP as SI.
Earlier, Acting Inspector General of Police Sindh and other officials also expressed condolence with the relatives of the martyred SI. He also announced to provide a job to a person from the heirs of SI in police department.
Separately, seven alleged criminals were arrested during search operations by Rangers.
According to reports, Rangers held surprise search operations in different areas including Muhammad Nagar, Liaquat Abad, FC area, Kala bridge Liyari and adjoining, and claimed to have arrested seven people involved in various incidents of extortion, robberies. The detainees have been shifted to an undisclosed place for further interrogation.
