Plan devised to tackle possible drought in Thar

KARACHI: Provincial Food Minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar said on Tuesday that the Food Department had chalked out a plan to cope with the expected drought in Thar and wheat bags were provided to five warehouses of Thar District. “The local administration were informed that warehouses of Thar District are at full capacity that there are more than 400,000 wheat bags at Mirpurkhas and Sanghar Food Department,” he said in a statement. Dahar said, “As per orders of Sindh government, the Food Department would provide 400,000 wheat bags in Thar within 48 hours.” He said that the food department was fully aware of its responsibilities and it had taken all possible measures to tackle the expected drought in Thar. “We are working on our plan and are sure that the people of Thar will not face any hardship,” he said.  The food minister said that Sindh government would not abandon Thar’s people in difficult times. “All people of the province are with the people of Thar,” he concluded.
