4 more fall prey to violence

KARACHI: Four men were killed in different incidents in the city on Saturday.Shahnawaz, 35, son of Ibrahim, was killed by unidentified armed motorcyclists in Malir 15. Maula Bux, 44, son of Muhammad Ramzan, was shot and killed by unidentified armed men in Zia Colony of Orangi Town. The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.A 35-year-old, Gul Nawab, son of Mir Ahmed, was killed by unidentified armed motorcyclist in Nata Khan Goth. The body was sent to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for an autopsy.Separately, a man was found dead near Kati Pahari area of Orangi Town. The body was brought to the ASH for post-mortem. According to rescue sources, the identity of the body could not be ascertained.Grenade attack: At least four people were injured in a grenade attack in Lyari on Saturday, officials said.According to local police, unidentified men hurled grenades near Gabol Park, injuring four people.Rescue teams rushed to the scene soon after the incident and moved the injured to the Civil Hospital. Meanwhile, police also reached and started investigation.Newborn found dead:  Meanwhile, a newborn was found dead in Surjani Town on Saturday.According to Chhipa rescue sources, a four-day-old infant was found dead in Surjani Town. The body was buried in the Mewashah Graveyard by Chhipa volunteers after medico-legal formalities.FIR of Gizri blast: The first information report (FIR) of Friday’s bomb attack in Gizri was registered at the Frere Police Station against unidentified accused under the Anti-Terrorism Act on Saturday.The case was registered under anti-terrorism explosive act on state complaint. Six people were killed and 29 others injured in the deadly blast.Separately, the police sources said that the ongoing investigation had found evidence of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) being involved in the Delhi Colony blast, while the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (Swat and Mohmand groups) might have been behind the attack on slain inspector Shafiq Tanoli in Karachi. According to sources, the Delhi Colony blast was an incident of sectarian violence.Meanwhile, police nabbed around 43 suspects during a targeted operation in Delhi Colony and adjoining areas.On the other hand, police killed a key activist of a banned outfit in an encounter in Lyari area of Karachi. According to police, the accused, Qari Noshad, belonged to Lashkar-e-Jhangvi.
