Minister for action over precious land sale

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Prisons, Anti-corruption, Mines and Mineral Development, Manzoor Hussain Wasan has called for strict action against people involved in selling precious land of 36,000 acres in Taluka Nara in District Khairpur.  Addressing Sindh Assembly’s budget session, Wasan said that the natural flow of the River Indus was changed in General Zia’s dictatorial era and precious land at Taluka Nara was sold at low rates. “Floods in the province are also caused over halting natural flow of the river in order to acquire precious land at low rates,” he said adding that the Zia’s successors also spent billions of rupees on remodelling of Nara Canal, which inflicted damage to the province. He said that the Taluka Nara land in district Khairpur was full of gas reservoirs but it was sold out to different companies at cheap rates. He said that the issue would be investigated under the supervision of provincial assembly members and strict action would be taken against the culprits.
