Altaf Hussain shows concern over targeted killings


KARACHI: Founder leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Altaf Hussain has talked to members of MQM Coordination Committee and showed his deep concern over the targeted killings of prominent Shia and Sunni doctors, engineers, professors, lawyers, scholars and writers. He said unfortunately neither the federal nor the provincial governments took any notice against the prevailing situation, which outlawed the government’s writ in most parts of the country especially in Karachi. He said both the federal and provincial governments should design solid strategies to stop this menace. Hussain appealed to Karachiites to come forward and help themselves to tackle the terrorism. He suggested them to make peace-committees in their areas and put an eye on the wandering suspects and instantly report to the police and law enforcement agencies. He warned to the rulers Allah has given them a chance to rule and it was their responsibility to provide protection to the people and their belongings and any negligence might call Allah’s curse. He prayed for those who did not want to comprehend the conspiracy to make riots between Shia and Sunni. He prayed Allah would bless them to understand the situation and tackle it with maturity. staff report
Qaim takes notice of reports about Thar drought KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah has taken serious notice of the reports about emergence of drought conditions and death of the minor children in district Tharparkar and directed Sindh Minister for Health, Minister for Livestock, Minister Relief, provincial secretary Rehabilitation and Commissioner Mirpurkhas and Deputy Commissioner Tharparkar to visit the areas along with their concerned secretaries/officials respectively to ascertain the situation, envisage prompt strategy and resolve the miseries of the people within shortest possible time. He said there was a mechanism, under which each department/organisation was working under the administration of responsible provincial minister who have to fulfill their responsibility with dedication. Chief Minister Sindh directed the Commissioner Mirpukhas, Deputy Commissioner Tharparkar, Revenue and Relief Department to ascertain the situation and submit their report about prevailing condition and response of concerned department. He warned negligence in this regard would not be tolerated.
