Four bombs rock Karachi on Chehlum

KARACHI: Terrorists defeated the extra ordinary security measures, and at least four people including two teenagers were killed and 23 others wounded in four separate blasts on Chehlum.
As per details, the first explosion took place near Capri Cinema on MA Jinnah Road, a few moments before the Chehlum procession of Imam Hussain (RA) passed by. The bomb was planted on the roadside pole of a signboard. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
Orangi Town explosions: Three back-to-back explosions shook Orangi Town, claiming four lives, including two teenagers, and wounding around 23 people.
The first bomb exploded at Azakhana-e-Kauser Imambargah. The bomb planted along the wall, damaged the imambargah, but no loss of life was reported. However, as the rescue, law enforcers and residents reached and gathered at the blast site, another blast occurred within 10 minutes, said District West and Central police chief DIG Javed Odho.
The second blast resulted in the death of four people, including two teenagers, he added. The bodies and injured were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH), where doctors pronounced the death of four and admitted others for treatment.
Following the incident, law enforcers cordoned the entire locality to prevent any incident.
Deceased persons were identified as 15-year-old Sunny, son of Gul Zafran, Rabi Awwal, 16, son of Mazhar Hussain and a young man, Irfan, son of Bashir Ahmed.
As per officials, the injured also include sub-inspector Shafi, four volunteers, two scouts and the passersby and bystanders.
With the passing of half an hour, the fourth explosion took place in Qasba Colony area of Orangi Town, injuring at least three children who were playing in the ground near to their residences. The injured were taken to ASH where doctors termed the condition of one child critical.
Law enforcers and bomb disposal squad's (BDS) experts believed that the three blasts were improvised explosive devices (IEDs), containing ball bearings, which were detonated via a remote, while the fourth one was a cracker bomb.
"On MA Jinnah Road, the explosives were planted on the roadside signboard pole, in Orangi Town, the first bomb was planted along the wall of the imambargah and the second was planted next to the tree close to the imambargah. Both bombs contained around 2 to 3 kilogrammes of explosive material and nut bolts and ball bearings," said an official of the BDS.
