FBR union suggests donating one-day salary for IDPs

KARACHI: Federal Revenue Alliance Employees Union (FBR Union) has suggested the government to donate their single day salary to the internally displaced persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan. In a letter written to FBR Chairman Tariq Bajwa, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the opposition leader in the National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah, the FBR Union Central President Mian Abdul Qayyum has announced on behalf of the workers of the FBR that employees are ready to donate their one-day salary for the rehabilitation of IDPs of North Waziristan Agency where presently an operation is underway against the terrorists. He suggested the chairman announce officially the donation of one-day salary by all ranks of the Federal Board of Revenue to help the displaced people in this critical situation. The Union proposed the PM issue directives to all government departments to follow the practice and asked opposition leader Khurshid Shah to also endorse this noble cause, sending a good gesture to those who are fighting the war of Pakistan. The union leader also declared that the whole nation, including the FBR workers, is standing with the armed forces in their struggle to combat terrorism in the country. In the letter, he also pointed out the miserable security of all the regions of FBR since no properly trained security staff has been appointed in regional tax offices. He said that in all offices only peons and notice servers are performing this duty, who do not even know how to carry a rifle which puts them in a big danger. In view of the present threat from terrorists, the FBR authorities should beef up security measures at all the regional tax offices, by appointing trained and professional security guards with latest and state-of-art arm for the safety of tax collectors and visiting taxpayers.
