Violence grips Karachi, 14 more gunned down

KARACHI: Continuing violence in the city killed fourteen more people on Wednesday, including a policeman.
A sub-inspector of police was shot dead in Shah Faisal Colony. Meanwhile, Lyari continued to be in a state of unrest, with two gangs resorting to indiscriminate firing. At least five people, including a woman, her son and a relative, were killed and several others wounded in the violence. Gangsters fired an RPG into a house near Juna Masjid in Zikri Mohalla, killing three members of a family.
An unidentified man was shot dead in the same locality, while several people, including women and children, were reportedly injured in gunfights between gangsters. A young man who was not identified was found dead from Jhut Pat market. Police said that the victim was shot multiple times. Extra contingent of law enforcers controlled the situation, however, Lyari SP Shahnawaz Khan confirmed the killing of five people in the recent wave of violence. On the other hand, a man was shot dead in Rabbani Mohalla in Frontier Colony. The victims hailed from Swat and had arrived in the city a couple of days ago. 
An old man was killed and a rickshaw driver was wounded in an armed attacked in Gulshan-e-Bunair, while a man was shot dead in Siddiq-e-Akbar Colony, Orangi Town. Also, four men were found dead from an empty plot near Link Road.
