Two gunned down, three injured in city as violence continues

KARACHI: Two people were killed and three other injured in separate incidents of violence in the city on Saturday.A youth, Shah Nawaz Khan, 22, resident of Orangi Town, was shot dead by unidentified armed men in Raja Tanveer Colony, Ittehad Town. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for an autopsy.Similarly, a youth, Manzoor, 22 was shot dead by unidentified assailants near Abul Hassan Asphani Road in Teachers Society, Gulistan-e-Johar. The body was sent to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center for medico-legal formalities.A man, Anwar, 25, was shot and injured by unidentified armed men in Orangi Town No 13. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.In a separate incident, an unidentified man, aged 30, was shot at and injured by armed men near Metro Shopping Center, Safari Park area. The injured was rushed to Darul Sehat Hospital for treatment.A girl, Kulsoom, 10, was injured when unidentified armed men opened fire on her near Paracha graveyard in Kati Pahari area, Orangi Town. The injured was shifted to ASH for treatment. Minor girl among three killed: Three people, including a minor girl, were killed in different incidents in the city on Saturday.A 20-year-old factory worker, Babu, son of Jan Muhammad, was killed after being cut by a machine while working in a factory in Korangi Industrial area, Sector-24. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities.Sheena Shafi, eight, was killed when a speeding bus ran in over her at Qalandaria Chowk near Nusrat Bhutto Colony. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for an autopsy. Separately, Amir, 21, son of Shaheen, was killed when a vehicle hit him at Singer Chowrangi in Korangi Industrial Area. The body was shifted to JPMC for a postmortem examination. PMA condemns killing of doctor: The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Centre and PMA Karachi on Saturday strongly condemned the brutal murder of Dr Faisal Ali and kidnapping of Dr Shafiq Ahmed in Karachi and manhandling of doctors in Civil Hospital Dadu.An emergency meeting of PMA Centre and Karachi was held at PMA House Karachi, which was presided over by former president Prof Tipu Sultan. The meeting was also attended by Dr Qaisar Sajjad, Mirza Ali Azhar, Dr Serajuddaula Syed, Dr Shoaib Sobani, Dr Shershah Syed, Dr Qazi Wasiq, Dr Hamid Manzoor, Dr Ahmed Bhemani, Dr Khalil Mukkadam, Dr Usman Ghani, Dr Najam Feroz Mehmoodi, Dr Shaukat Malik, Dr Naseer Baloch, and many other senior members. The attendants of the meeting strongly condemned the killing of Dr Faisa Ali , who was a dentist and just 30 years-old. Dr Faisal was at his dental clinic in Liaquat Colony when two gunmen shot at him and killed. Similarly, Dr Shafiq Ahmed was kidnapped from Defence area while doctors were manhandled by unruly mob belonging to a political party at Civil Hospital Dadu.“It seems that the government of Sindh is totally unwilling to fulfil its responsibility of providing safety and security to the doctors. The law enforcing agencies have miserably failed to curb these crimes,” claimed PMA.PMA feels sorry over the loss of these innocent lives. Despite assurances of the high-ups of the law enforcement agencies, there is no end to the killings of innocent doctors. The incidents of violence against doctors and paramedics have become the order of the day.PMA demanded of the government to provide security to all doctors otherwise a country-wide protest may be initiated which will result in increase of the sufferings of poor patients, which PMA as a patient-friendly organization does not approve. PMA further demanded a fair compensation to the family of Dr Faisal Ali, safe and early recovery of Dr Shafiq Ahmed. PMA demanded of the federal interior minister, chief minister Sindh, chief secretary, IG Police and all other state institutions to take an urgent notice.
