SHC bars setting up of educational institution on residential plot

KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) has barred parties concerned from setting up educational institution on a residential plot in the Pakistan Employees Cooperative Housing Society (PECHS), Block 6. The order came on a petition filed by a resident of Block 6 of PECHS against illegal use of residential plot for commercial purposes. A division bench of SHC headed by Justice Irfan Saadat Khan directed respondents to use the land strictly for residential purpose only and no commercial activity whatsoever would be allowed on the plot since PECHS was purely a residential area. The respondents were allegedly setting up campus of a school and college on piece of land in Block 6 of PECHS. The petitioner Abida Kassim Sakaria moved the court requesting it to stop private respondents Brig (r) Sadiq Jamal, Zainab Taiyyeba and Salman Jamal from using residential plot for commercial purpose and ordered the authorities to demolish the illegal construction on the plot.
