KARACHI: Law enforcers claimed to have apprehended around 126 criminals during separate targeted raids and operations conducted across the metropolis on Tuesday. In the first happening, Pakistan Rangers Sindh nabbed around 19 criminals during separate targeted raids conducted in Kunwari Colony, Sherpao Colony, Federal B Area, Rozi Goth, Mehmodabad, Manghopir, Kalakot, Gul Goth, Khokrapar and Bahadarabad. Gangsters and militants were among detainees, Rangers' spokesman said. Weapons of different calibres were also recovered from their custody, he added. Separately, Rangers recovered a hostage during a raid in Kunwari Colony area of Manghopir locality. According to sources, the raid was conducted on a tip-off from where Rangers personnel managed to recover a hostage, Qamar Mehmood, who was kidnapped a day ago from Kati Pahari area. Sources said that at least nine suspects were also apprehended during the targeted operation in the area. On the other hand, Karachi police detained around 105 criminals during 92 raids and three encounters from different parts of the city. According to spokesman of Sindh police, seven robbers, 16 drugs peddlers, 31 absconders, three target killers and two extortionists were arrested along with 18 for possessing illicit weapons. Meanwhile, Super Market police arrested two more suspects, Shahbaz alias Munna and Adnan. SHO Anzar Alam said that the suspects were involved in around 10 cases of target killings, including the killing of former union council Nazim associated with the MQM.
