Report of sand theft from Mohenjodaro serious

KARACHI: Special Assistant to Chief Minister Sindh for Culture and Tourism Ms Sharmila Faruqui has taken serious notice over the reports appeared in some section of press regarding theft of sand from protective Bund of world heritage site of Mohen-Jo-Daro. It is a serious criminal activity and can not be tolerated. Culture department wrote a letter to commissioner Larkana and demand strict action and lodge FIR against responsible persons and policemen involved in this criminal activity that causing serious threat to precious heritage site of Sindh and making it vulnerable.  The request was also made to depute responsible officer to inspect the site, record the statement of people and submit the report as soon as possible.  Sharmila Faruqui said Mohen-Jo-Daro has a great significance for Sindhi culture and declared World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1980. Happening of such acts will bring bad name on administration as well as Pakistan. It is our core responsibility to protect and preserve the treasure land.
