Rangers attacked with hand grenade

KARACHI: One official was wounded in a cracker blast on a Ranger’s vehicle in Nusrat Bhutto Colony of Manghopir, on Monday night. As per reports, unidentified bikers lobbed a cracker on the Rangers vehicle before fleeing. The ensuing blast wounded one Rangers man who was rushed to hospital for medical treatment, where doctors termed his condition out of danger. Rangers’ officials said that the force has apprehended two men suspected of involvement in the attack. Rangers also conducted an operation in the area to apprehend more suspects. It is worth mentioning that a day earlier Rangers launched a grand targeted operation in Manghopir locality and detained around 20 suspects, which included four hardcore Taliban militants. Sources said that law enforcement agencies, including police and Rangers, were put on high alert following the threat of terrorism, including suicide bombings, targeted at the law enforcers, their offices, headquarters and family quarters.
