MPAs’ walkout leads to ‘Awami Assembly’s

KARACHI: All opposition members walked out of the house and arranged an 'Awami Assembly' (Public Assembly) momentarily outside the assembly building.
They nominated MQM lawmaker Amir Moin Pirzada as its speaker and presented a resolution, disapproving the ordinances passed by the house. The resolution at the 'Public Assembly' was separately read out by Nusrat Sehar Abbasi of the PML-F, Khwaja Izharul Hasan of the MQM and Khurram Sher Zaman of the PTI. They shouted slogans against the PPP.
Faisal Sabzwari said opposition parties would not accept the 'black law' as it was against the fundamental rights. "We will not allow anybody to rig elections in the name of majority." He clarified that his party was not holding any dialogue with the PPP and dispelled the impression that MQM was joining the government.
He said protests would be carried out across the province against the new LG law and all opposition parties had already been invited.
Irfanullah Marwat said opposition members organised an 'Awami Assembly' as they were barred from speaking in the house.
Imtiaz Sheikh of the PML-F said a process had been started to use machinery to acquire desired results in local government elections. He stated that PPP had never conducted LG elections and now it was in confusion.
Khurram Sher Zaman of the PTI said running province through an ordinance was a conspiracy. He said his party would not stand by any illegal and non-democratic move.
