8 villages near Kharar Canal Thatta facing water shortage since a year

KARACHI: Around eight villages along with Kharar Canal Thatta has been facing shortage of water for the last one-year, that was badly needed for the survival of human beings and wild life. Chief Secretary Sindh Sajjad Saleem Hotiana forwarded a complaint in this regard to the Secretary Irrigation to resolve the shortage of water. The villagers also requested for cleaning Kharar Canal with the specific reference to forthcoming rice crop, which could be damaged if water supply riot restored. The Chief Secretary asked the Secretary Irrigation to ameliorate the people from the hardship and submit report within 3 days. The matter has been referred to the Secretary Irrigation, through the complaint cell. It has been reported in the complaint irrigation personnel were responsible for artificial canal water shortage, which could affect the rice crop.
