Two shot dead in city


KARACHI: A cop and a dental technician were killed in separate incidents of violence across the city on Thursday, while body of a doctor, who went missing four days ago was also found.
In the first incident, a court police constable was gunned down in Banaras Colony within the jurisdiction of Pirabad police station. Police said that deceased, Mohammad Siddique, was sitting near his residence when unidentified armed riders shot him dead. His body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy and later handed over to his family. Separately, a medical dental technician was shot dead at his workshop in the remits of Azizabad police station. Police said that two armed men reached the workshop-cum house of Zahirudin and shot him and later managed to flee. The family of the victim shifted him to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. The motive behind the incident is yet to be learnt, and further investigations are underway.
Body found: A doctor was found dead from bushes in New Karachi within the precincts of Bilal Colony police station. 
Police said that deceased Dr Sabir Saghir Baigh was kidnapped four days ago when he was on his way home from his clinic. Later, the family received a ransom call and Rs 0.3 million were paid to the kidnappers, however, they increased the demand and asked for an additional Rs 0.7 million. The family was busy collecting the money when the police found Dr Baigh's body.
