Smuggled cigarettes, gutka worth Rs 66 million seized

KARACHI:: Customs Intelligence and Pakistan Rangers Sindh recovered huge quantity of foreign smuggled cigarettes, Indian gutka and flavored sheesha during a joint operation here in Bolton Market. According to a statement issued here on Friday Directorate of Customs Intelligence, assisted by Pakistan Rangers working on a recovered contraband items illegally stored in different godowns located there. Approximate value of the contraband goods taken into custody is Rs 66 million and is packed in 310 cartons. Customs officials claimed that it was the biggest ever haul of smuggled gutka and cigarettes in single operation in the recent period by any agency. Further investigations in the matter have been ordered while FIR is being lodged to arrest culprits involved in this illegal activity.
