Mourning day todayFilling stations in city floodedwith vehicles

KARACHI: Filling stations in Karachi were flooded with vehicles after Muttahida Qaumi Movement called to observe a country-wide mourning day against the killings of Pakistan Awami Tehreek workers in Lahore on Tuesday.All the filling stations in the city were seen crowded with people who were getting their vehicles filled with fuel as they recently faced strike-like situation for two days after arrest of MQM Chief Altaf Hussain in London.MQM leader Farooq Sattar, while announcing a day of mourning today, said that opening fire on the PAT protesters was a barbaric act and it had exposed the enemies of democracy. MQM leader Haider Abbas Rizvi has appealed to transporters and traders to give response to the mourning day call.MQM chief Altaf Hussain has also expressed solidarity with PAT leader Tahirul Qadri and questioned the reason of raiding Qadri’s house.Almost all the political parties have condemned the killings of PAT workers. In the incident, around eight people were killed, including two women and a policeman.
