KARACHI: Another student, who was critically injured in Nawabshah road mishap died in a hospital during treatment in Karachi on Friday.
The death toll rose to 21 as another injured girl student expired during treatment. Sidra was under treatment in the hospital along with eight other injured students.
Meanwhile, Sindh Education Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro visited Aga Khan University Hospital, and inspected the treatment facilities being provided to the injured of the Nawabshah school bus-truck collision.
Talking to media Khuhro expressed deep grievances over the tragedy and offered his condolences to the families of the deceased. The minister stressed the need to improve security arrangements for travelers on highways through effective patrolling so that future incidents may be avoided.
At least 22 people, including 17 schoolchildren died when a dumper on Nawabshah-Qazi Ahmed Link Road crushed their van on Wednesday.
Among five adults, were the van driver and two schoolteachers, along with 30 students. The schoolchildren, with their teachers were coming back from Nawabshah to Daulatpur after participating in a quiz contest.
When the rescue teams arrived at the scene of the accident, they found the bodies scattered all over the place. The children were from Class III to Class VIII.
