KARACHI: Four people, including a girl, were killed and two others injured in different violence incidents in the city on Friday. Two bodies of men, age between 25-30, bearing torture marks were found in Memon Society of troubled Lyari area. The victims were first kidnapped and then tortured to death, said police. The bodies were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico-legal formalities.
The identity of the victims could not be ascertained yet. Some unknown persons barged into a house and tortured a girl Saira, 22, daughter of Faizullah, to death and injured her mother Ismat, 42, wife of Faizullah, near Ayoubia Mosque in Ittehad Town, Baldia Town. The body and the injured were shifted to CHK for a postmortem examination and treatment respectively. Police suspect personal enmity behind the attack. Separately, a man was shot dead by unknown armed motorcyclists near Gulbai Chowrangi in Sher Shah. The body was shifted to CHK for an autopsy.
The identity of the victim could not ascertain yet. A 35-year-old man, Hamid, son of Wahid, was stabbed and injured by unknown car lifters during car lifting in Surjani Town, North Karachi 5-C-1. The bandits drove away car to unknown destination. The injured was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.
Terrorist killed: Meanwhile, police on Friday claimed to have arrested 22 suspects and killed one alleged terrorist during joint search operation with rangers in western parts of the metropolis.
Paramilitary force rangers and police conducted a raid in Mianwali Colony within the limits of Pirabad police station. One suspected terrorist Mohammad Hussain was killed and his accomplice injured in exchange of fire. Separately, police conducted a search operation near Kati Pahari within the limits of Manghopir police station and arrested 22 suspected criminals during the operation. According to SSP West, five pistols were recovered from the possession of arrested suspects. Further investigation was underway.
Arrested: Also on Friday, a Sindh Rangers spokesman said that the force had arrested over 2,295 people during the operation against criminal elements in the past seven months. He said that during the operation, which started on September 5, 2013, Rangers conducted 2370 raids and arrested 2295 people. There were 12 terrorists, 142 target killers, 102 extortionists and 27 kidnappers among the arrested people. According to spokesman 4102 weapons were recovered from the arrested accused in which machine guns, LMGs, RPG, Awan Launcher, SMGs, M16, Awan Grenade, Hand Grenade and 171,000 bullets were included.
