Hotels’ management asked to verify identity of visitors

KARACHI: Additional IG Karachi Ghulam Qadir Thebo has directed the police in view of the security red alert the management of the hotels in the metropolis should properly verify the identity ahead of giving room to anyone. Talking to media on Monday He directed the city police to keep an active watch on the hotels and ensure the management of hotels should give rooms to visitors after proper verification of their identification including checking their Computerised National Identity Cards (CNIC). In case of occurrence of any unhealthy incident, the concerned Station House Officer will be responsible, he said. He said the city police was on red alert and leaves of the police personnel have been cancelled. Thebo said the zonal police response force has been established for patrolling in their respective areas. He said recommendations have also been sent to the Sindh Police chief to provide 5,000 police personnel armed with latest weapons so as to further beef-up the security in the city. He said the SSPs, DSPs and SHOs were supervising the snap checking in different areas in the city. Besides, the police personnel will ensure implementation on the directives pertaining to the security arrangements, he added. He said the security arrangements have been enhanced at sensitive areas and installations including at airports, railway stations, prisons, Sindh Secretariat, Sindh Assembly Building and hospitals.
