SSGCL told to complete village gasification schemes

KARACHI: Sindh government is not satisfied over the implementation on its village gasification plan by executing authority Sui-Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) despite of providing Rs 6.5 billion in advance since last two years. Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah directed the authority concerned to complete all 1,108-village gasification schemes by this year without any fail. Presiding over meeting of village gasification he said as many as 1,108 schemes of village gasification were assigned to the management of SSGCL in 2011 with advance of Rs 6.5 but after two years the SSGCL management could only complete 648 and remaining 460 schemes were still in pending with Rs 2.5 billion in their hand which was injustice to the people of Sindh who were even knocking the doors of the judiciary to get relief. He said when money was with SSGC, approved schemes were with them then there was no justification to keep the schemes pending since the years. He directed them to keep the balance amount of Sindh government in Sindh Bank as decided earlier. The adviser to CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah said in previous meeting in March 2014 decided the balance amount of Sindh government Rs 2.5 billion would be transferred and transacted through Sindh Bank but the management of SSGC did not responded till yet. He said delay in execution and simultaneously keeping billion of rupees in hand was causing financial losses to Sindh government and difficulties to common man. He asked the management of SSGC to transfer the resources complete these schemes by the end of this financial year. The senior General Manager SSGCL Dr Ilyas briefing the meeting said since 2008 till date they have received 1,502 schemes of village gasification out of which 648 has so far been completed.
