Police claims killing two Lyari gang-war criminals





KARACHI: The police on Sunday claimed to have killed two Lyari gang-war criminals in an encounter in Lyari. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shiraz Nazir said that in a joint encounter of police and Rangers, two Lyari gang-war members were shot dead. He said that the criminals were identified as Asim Dada and Dadu Memon. The SSP said that the dead criminals were involved in over 40 cases of murder. He said that heavy cache of weapons was also recovered from their possession. Moreover, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) East Zone Munir Ahmed Sheikh on Sunday claimed to have arrested six criminals, including four target killers. The criminals are accused of killing police officials, including SP and an Inspector. The DIGP said that the police had arrested four target-killers Ejaz Ahmed alias Kalla Muna, Liaq Ahmed alias Moni, Yasir Bilal, and Muhammad Nasir. He said that the accused were involved in 27 murder cases, including the murder of several police officers. He said that the arrested accused had confessed the killing of SSP Shah Muhammad, Inspector Anwar Jaffari and Constable Muhammad Asif. Sheikh said that the police had also arrested two criminals, the names of whom had been kept secret for the investigation purpose. He said that the arrested accused were involved in the killing of two persons and looting Rs 16 million. He said that Rs 6.5 million were recovered from their possession and further investigation is underway.
