Three-day ‘I Am Karachi’ youth peace summit begins

KARACHI: Three-day “I Am Karachi - Youth Peace Summit with the theme of Karachi “Vows For Peace” commenced on Tuesday at a local hotel which will continue till August 14. The event is organized by Chanan Development Association (CDA) in collaboration with Youth Peer Education Network Pakistan, The United Nations Democracy Fund and Sindh Government. Sub-themes of the event are Youth Participation in Decision-making on first day, Unity in Diversity on second day and Way forward for Peace on third day. The peace summit has brought together around 600 participants from various areas of the metropolis. According to the CDA the purpose of the “Youth Peace Summit” is to engage the youth of the city in a dialogue to discuss current challenges and their solutions. It further added it will provide an opportunity to the Youth of Karachi to gain exposure of the city by visiting different places. The event will also engage political leaders, civil society and media representatives in dialogue. Earlier, the summit started with National anthem and welcome note by Executive Director, CDA, Muhammad Shahzad Khan. A theatre namely “Kirchi Kirchi Karachi” by Tehrik-e-Niswan was also performed.
