Four people found dead, two cops gunned down

KARACHI: Four people, including a woman, were found dead in violence incidents in the city on Wednesday.The mutilated body of an unidentified woman, aged 30, was found on Sachal Goth Road. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem examination.A youth, Inzimam, 22, son of Tariq, resident of Korangi, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen near Mushtaq Hotel in Awami Colony, Korangi. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for an autopsy.A man, Ismail, 30, was shot dead near Nala Stop on Mauripur Road in Shamsi Muhalla. The body was taken to Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.A seven-day-old body of an old man, Raesal, 80, son of Koral, resident of Mehmoodabad, was found from a closed shop in Mehmoodabad No 2. The body was shifted to JPMC for postmortem examination.Meanwhile, two policemen were killed in an armed attack within the precincts of Mominabad police station in Orangi Two on Wednesday.According to police, unidentified armed men opened fire on a police vehicle, injuring two cops. The injured were taken to a hospital where they succumb to their injuries.The assailants managed to flee after the attacks. Identities of the deceased were yet to be ascertained.On the other hand, Sindh Home Secretary Dr Niaz Ali Abbasi, has said that six point standard operating procedure (SOP) has been issued to ensure foolproof security of important places and vital installations.Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he said that the SOP was required to be adopted by all the vital installations, federal or provincial, in consultation with the district administration and law enforcement agencies at the earliest.Elaborating the operational procedure he said that the commissioner and deputy inspector general of Police (DIGP) would administratively designate restricted areas within seven days as limited, off-limit, exclusion, sensitive or authorize personnel only areas.Commissioner and DIG of Police would, then jointly, prepare list of vital installations within their jurisdiction and Commissioner shall constitute District Vital Installation Committees consisting of DCs/SSPs, Rangers & Representative of Vital Installation within 10 days, he added.The secretary said that vital installation management shall be bound to install Intrusion Detection Devices (Biometrics & CCTV) within shortest possible time along with ensuring strong compound wall supported by watch towers, fencing, lighting and barricades.He said that residential areas or hotels close to installations need to be swept and constantly monitored by LEAs in coordination with the management.However, strong security mechanisms within the premises of the installation is the major deterrence against terrorism and it was the primary duty of the organization itself while at outside premises comes the role of the law enforcement agencies, he concluded.
