KARACHI: An accountability court has convicted a sitting member of Sindh Assembly, Syed Ali Nawaz Shah, who belongs to Pakistan People’s Party, along with former provincial ministers Syed Khadim Ali Shah and Syed Imtiaz Ali Shah in a land fraud case. The three have been sentenced to imprisonment and fined. The accountability court in Karachi convicted Nawaz Shah, Khadim Ali Shah and Syed Imtiaz Ali Shah over involvement in making a forged B-Form for acquisition of land for the construction of SimNala. The court sentenced them to prison and fined them. According to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Sindh, “In reference No 28/2001, 28-A/2001, 29/2001 and 1/2010/H Syed Ali Nawaz Shah has been awarded five years rigorous imprisonment along with fine of Rs 563,200. Accused Syed Khadim Ali Shah has been awarded four years imprisonment along with fine of Rs 547,525 and Syed Imtiaz Ali Shah has been awarded three years imprisonment along with fine of Rs 431,106.” The trio was also accused of making a fake power of attorney. Besides NAB, Rangers and FIA have also geared up their campaign against the corruption in Sindh.
