‘Special powers to LEAs for security installations urged’

KARACHI: The founder leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Altaf Hussain condemned the firing incident on Airport Security Force (ASF) Camp, adjacent to Karachi Airport by terrorists. He appealed to the federal and provincial governments to give special powers to law enforcement agencies (LEAs) responsible for the security of important and defence installations. In a statement Hussain said Pakistan’s economic hub was under the attack of terrorists. He demanded an action plan should be made for the elimination of terrorists. Hussain said an emergency meeting of chiefs of armed forces of Pakistan, security agencies and paramilitary forces should be convened to develop a strategy for securing defence installation and elimination of terrorists and this plan should be executed immediately.Rangers and Police are fighting terrorists bravely. They deserve praise for their work. I pray to Allah to help these brave sons of the nation, Hussain prayed for security forces.He appealed to Karachi’s citizens especially businessmen and shop owners to remain alert considering the critical situation of the city.Meanwhile Hussain presiding over a joint meeting of MQM London and Karachi Coordination Committee said Rabita Committee and workers should participate and carry out rescue operation at Karachi Airport tragedy victims. He said supporters and activists of the party besides Rabta Committee should go and inquire about the health of injured and help managing appropriate treatment.He said he had already suggested the concerned authorities to establish a disaster management cell to cope such situations.
