Four people killed, 3 gangsters gunned down in encounter

KARACHI: Four people were killed and two others injured in different violence incidents in the city on Thursday.Riaz Habib, 30, son of Muhammad Habib, was killed by unknown armed men at Khati Pahari near Islamia Mosque. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for a postmortem examination.A 40-year-old man, Asif, son of Akbar Ali, resident of Solider Bazaar, was killed when unidentified armed men opened fire on his car at Empress Market in Saddar. He was said to be an activist of the Majlis-Wahdat Muslimeen and after the incident, enraged mob staged a sit-in at M A Jinnah Road and Numaish Chowrangi.Preedy Street Police said a first investigation report against unknown killers has been filed and police started investigation into the matter. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities.A man was found dead under Lasbela flyover. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a postmortem examination. The identity of the victim could not be ascertained yet.Separately, a man was found dead from Lyari River near Bakra Perhi, Lyari. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for an autopsy. The identity of the victim could not be ascertained yet.Ajmal, 30, was shot and injured while resisting a robbery bid in Landhi. The injured was shifted to JPMC for treatment.Irfan, 38, son of Muhammad Iqbal, was shot and injured by unknown robbers while resisting a robbery in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. The injured was shifted to a nearby private hospital for treatment.Meanwhile senior Superintendent of Police City Shiraz Nazir claimed police gunned down three members of Lyari gang war in two separate encounters in the city.He said gang war accused Majid and Akhtar were killed in a joint encounter of police and Rangers near Saifee Lane in Lyari. The accused belonged to Sheraz Comrade group and involved in murders, extortion, kidnappings and other heinous crimes. Hand grenades and weapons were also recovered from their possession, he said. He said one gang war accused Kashif alias Mota was killed in a police encounter in old city Area. He was affiliated with Sohail Dada group and involved in target killing and kidnapping for ransom.
