Sindh, Sistan Balochistan to form joint working group to promote trade

KARACHI: Sindh and bordering Iran authority agreed to form a joint working group to expedite and identify new avenues of mutual understandings in order to promote trade and commerce activities between the provinces.Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah and Governor of Sistan Balochistan of Iran Ali Osat Hashemi in a meeting were of the view visit of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to Iran would cast positive impact on bilateral relations between two brother countries.Qaim said Pakistan and specially Sindh and people of Sindh have close historical, cultural and bilateral relations with Iran and its people.He said still Iran was building three major hospitals each at Garhi Khuda Bux district Larkana, district Khairpur and district Badin to facilitate the people of Sindh.He said former President Asif Ali Zardari was taking keen interest to promote bilateral relations with Iran and had inked the Pak-Iran Gas pipeline project.At present we are enjoying good working relationship with federal government and trying to pursue it to carry on this most important project to meet out energy crisis with success.Sindh province is blessed with natural resources which include reserves of oil, gas, coal, wind corridor, mines and agriculture and it has good potential to invest and exploit these resources.Sindh province is experiencing energy crises and Sindh government has already signed an accord with an Iranian firm under which it was supposed to invest in wind corridor to produce the energy, besides Sindh being an agro province can export its agro-products to Iran.He informed after 18th Amendment in the Constitution his government could enter into negotiations and even ink the agreement with any country or its province.He invited the industrialists, investors, traders and organisations such as chamber of commerce and industries of Iran to come here to invest and promote the trade relation between both countries.Ali Osat Hashemi lauded the services of Asif Ali Zardari for promotion of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Iran, launching Pakistan Gas Pipeline project.Iran can help Sindh in meeting with the energy crises not only by producing energy but also by refining the electric system.Expressing his interest for promotion of bilateral business, he proposed for holding trade exhibitions, exchange of business delegations and enhancing communication facilities between both provinces to ascertain the business capacity of each other. He expressed his interest for promoting tourism and extending more facilities to tourists.
