Grenade, cracker attacks in Karachi, interior Sindh


KARACHI: Three separate grenade attacks in various parts of the port city left four people injured on Tuesday, while cracker attacks in several cities in Sindh created panic. Unidentified assailants lobbed a grenade on a car in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, injuring two people. Two more people sustained injuries in a similar attack near Nagan Chowrangi, North Nazimabad. Earlier, a shop in Clifton area came under a grenade attack. However, no one was hurt. Meanwhile, panic gripped different parts of Kotri, Qasimabad and Hyderabad city talukas as firecrackers tossed by unidentified persons exploded. According to police, unidentified persons hurled two firecrackers on the railway track near Sehrishnagar, Qasimabad and Khursheed Colony, Kotri, while another firecracker was tossed near the GPO. As a result, the main railway line was slightly damaged, however no casualty was reported from anywhere, the police spokesman said. According to sources, the railway track was targeted near Khursheed Colony in Kotri. Meanwhile, in a similar incident another low-intensity blast occurred at a railway track in Sehrishnagar, said police sources. However, no casualties were reported in both the blasts. Police have started investigations.
