Three more killed as violence continues to plague city

KARACHI: Three people were killed and another injured in separate incidents of violence in the city on Monday.Mishal Khan, 45, was shot dead by armed men at Shantinagar in Dalmian. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities.Ahsan Sheikh, 35, was shot and injured by unidentified armed men at Hassan Square. The injured was shifted to nearby private hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.An unidentified man, aged 30, was shot dead by unknown armed men in Jodia Bazaar. The body was shifted to CHK for an autopsy. Tajuddin - 32, was shot and injured in Korangi No-6. The injured was brought to JPMC for treatment.Encounter: Also, three accused including two wanted criminals belonging to Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed in police encounters in two different areas of the metropolis on Monday. According to SSP West Irfan Baloch, two suspected militants affiliated with the banned outfit of TTP Swat chapter were killed in a police encounter that took place in Baldia Town. The culprits were involved in killing several policemen and extortion. Arms and ammunition were also recovered from their possession, the official added Another police encounter took place in Kharadar area early Monday morning during which an accused was killed while two others managed to escape.54 accused arrested: Meanwhile, Karachi police on Monday claimed to have arrested 54 criminals in 68 different raids and killed four alleged criminals in two different encounters with them in the city during the last 24 hours.According to Central Police Office (CPO) report, police conducted 68 raids in different areas of the city in consequence of these raids police arrested 54 criminals including murderers, proclaimed offenders, absconders and extortionists.Report stated that four alleged criminals were killed in two different encounters with police in the city. The police also claimed recovering 16 handguns, four hand grenades, drugs and liquor from the possession of arrested accused.
