SUKKUR: Aseefa Bhutto Zaradri has said that she was sure the day was not far away, when every child will get polio vaccine and will be saved from disability. She was addressing as chief guest at Sindh Vaccinators Convention, held on Monday to honour the frontline polio workers of Sindh at IBA auditorium, Sukkur. Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari, MNA Azra Fazal Pechuho, National Polio Plus Committee chairman, Aziz Memon of Rotary, Health Secretary Saeed Ahmed Mangnejo and others were also present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Aseefa said, “This event has given us an opportunity to appreciate the work of frontline workers in our fight against polio. For me, there can be no occasion more significant than this, where people who go out in the field, who tirelessly go and vaccinate door-to-door are present. It is these people who contribute towards saving our children from the scourge of polio and towards giving them a better, brighter future.” She said that Pakistan has come a long way in polio eradication from more than 300 cases last year to 49 this year. She stressed that every parent must give their children two drops of the polio vaccine to make Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s dream of a polio-free Pakistan. Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari and Aseefa distributed certificates of appreciation to the frontline polio workers from Sukkur and Larkana division as an acknowledgement of their tremendous efforts. MNA Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho offered special tribute to lady health workers present there as well as frontline workers. She said that whether it is hot or cold, dry or raining, they keep working and words cannot do justice to appreciate their praiseworthy efforts. Dr Saeed Mangnejo, Dr Muhammad Usman Chachar, Aziz Memon, IBA Director Nisar Ahmed Siddiqi and others also spoke on the occasion.
