KARACHI: Four people, including a policeman and a woman, were killed and five others injured in different violence incidents in the city on Thursday.
A police constable, Muhammad Sajid, 40, son of Muhammad Miskeen, was shot dead by unknown armed men at Qasba Colony in Orangi Town. He was deputed in Anti-Terrorism Squad in Shorab Goth, said police. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico-legal formalities.
Separately, the body of unknown person, aged 26, was recovered from Link Road, near Superhighway. It was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for an autopsy.
A 50-year-old woman, Fehmida, wife of Sohrab Khan, was found dead in her house at Model Colony in Malir. The body was shifted to JPMC for a postmortem examination.
Station House Officer (SHO) Model Colony police station informed that victim was at her house and her son went to school. As her son returned and opened the door he found his mother dead. He said that she was murdered with the blows of scissor on neck. The involvement of the housemaid was suspected. The deceased’s husband was in foreign. Further details were under way.
Two men, Arif, 35, son of Saddiq, and Toseef Ali, were shot dead when unidentified armed motorcyclists opened fire on them at Garden Traffic Post. The bodies were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.
Three people, Farooq, 25, Abid Hussain, Abdul Wahab, 28, and Tariq, 32, were injured when unknown culprits threw a hand grenade in Sango Lane area of troubled Lyari. The injured were shifted to CHK for treatment.
Kamran, 30, son of Habbib, was shot and injured by unknown robbers during a resistance to a robbery bid at Bilal Colony in Korangi. The injured was shifted to JPMC for treatment.
Meanwhile, Muqadar Ali, 28, son of Junaid, was shot and injured in firing by unknown culprits near Nadeem Medical in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. The injured was shifted to a nearby private hospital for treatment.
Separately, the body of an infant was recovered from a garbage dump in Nazimabad area.
Meanwhile Karachi police and Central Intelligence Agency in the joint operation raided different parts of the city during the last 24 hours and nabbed over 102 accused involved in various crimes. A police report said two accused were arrested in terrorism case, 16 in illegal weapons cases, two in robbery case, 18 in drugs peddling cases and rest in other crimes.
